Riccardo Baruzzi, Shafei Xia: "ENDLESS SUMMER" at Magazzino del Sale, Cervia, Italy

From May 16 to July 1st, 2026, the Magazzino del Sale in Cervia hosts the second edition of ENDLESS SUMMER, a three-year exhibition program (2025-2027) conceived by MAGMA APS. The project uses the utopia of an endless summer to experiment with new curatorial collaborations, akin to a jam session where distinct characteristics are valued without competition.
Over the three-year period, curators from various generations invite visual artists—Italian and international, emerging and established—to interpret summer as a poetic suggestion: a season in which time expands and generates new visions and desires.
Explored more as a state of mind than a climatic phenomenon, summer represents a suspended dimension where peak vital intensity coexists with the melancholy of its inexorable end.
Ranging across painting, video, sculpture, photography, and performance, the artworks dialogue through free juxtapositions, giving rise to an organic space for exchange based on mutual trust between artists and curators.
Developed by MAGMA specifically for Cervia with the support of the Municipality, the project aims to root contemporary art within the local territory. The goal is to enhance the local socio-cultural identity and the city's deep bond with the summer season, which is capable of generating surprising imagery.
ENDLESS SUMMER is an invitation to experience the exhibition exactly like summer: with the awareness of an absolute intensity, yet inevitably destined to fade.
