Alessandra Spranzi "Fotografie e femminismi" at Italian Culture Institute, Wien

From the 22th of June to 18th of July 2026.
P420 is pleased to announce a group exibition taking place at the Italian Culture Istitute, Wien.
The exhibition, curated by Federica Muzzarelli in collaboration with the Fotogalerie Wien collective, explores the role of photography from the 1960s to the present day, interpreting it as a tool for emancipation and opposition to the patriarchal system.
The exhibition path unfolds around key themes such as the family album, gender identity, stereotypes tied to domestic spaces, and social censorship. Through these themes, the exhibited works illustrate the evolution and cultural legacy of the female figure in Italy and Austria. The goal is to give a voice to stories that are often ignored, demand rightful attention, and propose new points of view.
The project highlights how the feminist approach constantly reshapes the photographic field, stimulating ongoing critique and unprecedented visions. Finally, the creations of the Italian photographers — drawn exclusively from the Donata Pizzi Collection — engage in a direct dialogue with the works of their Austrian colleagues, creating a bridge between the two exhibition venues as well. art to architecture, from sound art to design, passing through contemporary music and publishing.
