What about us. Arte italiana dallo Young Curators Residency Programme

Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo celebrates twenty years of the Young Curators Residency Programme (YCRP) with What about us, a group exhibition curated by Michele Bertolino.

Since 2007, the programme has hosted nearly 60 international curators, fostering engagement with the Italian art scene and creating opportunities for over 200 artists, often marking their first institutional exhibition. Over time, the various editions have built an archive of perspectives on Italian contemporary art.

What about us reactivates this archive non-chronologically, establishing new associations between works previously presented during the residencies. At the heart of the exhibition is time, understood not merely as a unit of measurement, but as material to be questioned, deconstructed, and reinterpreted: historical time and collective memory, personal time, waiting, repetition, and the possibility of imagining alternative futures.

The works of over twenty Italian artists thus explore various forms of memory, erasure, waiting, and the transformation of time. Alongside the artworks, archival materials, photographs, catalogues, and documents trace the first twenty years of the YCRP, making visible the construction of a collective and constantly evolving archive of perspectives on Italian art.
