With Pietre di pane, MART deepens its research into fragile geographies: territories marked by depopulation, socio-economic transformations, and extractive processes, with a particular focus on the highlands. The project follows in the footsteps of the investigation initiated with the exhibition Paesi perduti. Appunti per un viaggio nell’Italia dimenticata, curated by Gabriele Lorenzoni and dedicated to Italy's landscapes of abandonment.

Today as then, the perspective intertwines anthropological, social, and economic factors, questioning the relationships between communities, landscape, and memory through the work of contemporary artists.
