Biennale de Lyon - To pass from one dream to another

P420 is delighted to announce the participation of June Crespo (Pamplona, ES, 1982) in the 18th Biennale de Lyon, titled To Pass from One Dream to Another. Through sculpture, June Crespo explores the relationships between body, architecture and material. Working with concrete, resin, metal, and existing objects, she employs processes of casting, fragmentation, and assembly to produce forms that oscillate between the organic and the industrial. Her work places balance and transformation in tension, creating structures that remain open and mutable, while engaging with questions of scale, proximity and the ways bodies inhabit and are shaped by space. The artist approaches everyday objects by focusing on the formal relationships and associations they suggest rather than on their original functions or meanings. She isolates fragments of these objects and explores their physical and sculptural potential. Tubes, shells and other partial forms are reshaped, combined and layered, becoming the building blocks of her sculptures. This process is characterised by a sense of care and delicacy. Rather than concealing the marks left by making, June Crespo allows gestures, irregularities and imperfections to remain visible. Her sculptures emerge from a continuous interaction between different materials, where contrasts and dissonances create a space for sensitivity and poetic expression. The significance of these works often reveals itself only after encountering them, yet their formal language subtly evokes the body without explicitly representing it. The body seems to exist within the sculptures in a fragmented and reconstructed state, suggested through the relationship between materials and forms: their tension between rigidity and softness, weight and suspension, roughness and delicacy.
